Content:Pre-Employment Development Program (Free training)

Riverdale Immigrant Women?s Center, funded by Toronto Social Services, will deliver a NEW program called the Pre-Employment Development program for newcomers who are Ontario Works clients.

The program is a pre employment program designed to assist persons in need of basic employment support. Training provided includes
1) Assessment ? receiving an in-depth skills assessment of their strengths
2) Skill training ? Basic computer skills & Multiple-line telephone system training
3) Job services ? mentoring, counseling, resume & interview preparation.
4) Work placement.

At the end of the 9-weeks, the clients in the program will have developed an individual plan of action to facilitate the achievement of their goal. Participants will receive career placements and the agency will assist participants to secure employment by linking them with potential employers. There will also be a festive graduation ceremony at the end of program and certification to mark their completion of the program.

Participants will need to be referred by their Ontario Works case worker to attend the program. Our training begins January 15, 2007. Ontario Works Recipients who are interested in training opportunity will apply for program as soon as possible.
